Holiday Concert, Solstice: From Darkness into Light, December 2, 2016

For the chorus’s 57th holiday concert, Solstice, From Darkness into Light, Artistic Director Heather Mitchell, DMA, created a program outside the traditional holiday repertoire, featuring themes of peace, light, love, and serenity.

Among the songs performed were two pieces by Randall Thompson, “Nowel,” and “Alleluia;” Brahms’s “In Stiller Nacht;” Rachmaninoff’s “Ave Maria;” Whitacre’s “Seal Lullaby,” Stroope’s “Amor de Mi Alma,” and  U2’s “MLK,” a pensive, lullaby-like tribute to Martin Luther King.

The concert took place on Friday, December 2 at St. James Church, in Pennington, N.J. before a highly receptive and enthusiastic audience—the chorus’s largest audience ever.
