Laura Zoog, winner of the 2017 HVC Scholarship

Hopewell Valley Chorus Scholarship

At our spring concert, HVC annually awards its $1,000 scholarship to a musically talented graduating senior who resides in the Hopewell Valley.

At left, Laura Zoog, Hopewell Valley Central High School ’17, performs for her audition piece for the chorus before accepting the scholarship.

In addition, the Scholarship Committee voted to award an honorable mention to percussionist Gian Lombardo, HVCHS ’17, (at right) who performed two pieces with the chorus at the concert.

Spring into Song

DSC_0896The Hopewell Valley Chorus annually presents Spring into Song, a free concert with performances by vocal groups based in–or with close ties to–the Hopewell Valley. After 13 years, the event outgrew the sanctuary at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Washington Crossing. It is now generously hosted by Central Church, in Ewing.

Since 2003, Spring into Song has raised more than $47,000 through donations, sponsoring 50 Trenton Children’s Chorus singers’ attendance at leading summer music programs, including Camp Albemarle and the Middle School Summer Vocal Institute at Westminster Choir College of Rider University.

The Hopewell Valley Chorus also volunteers at local assisted living and retirement groups. In 2016, we have entertained the residents of The Memory Unit in Princeton Junction with several Saturday morning sing-alongs.
